Further Skills Development
From time to time Victoria Bridge Club also runs classes for improvers as they move through the grades and extension classes for advanced players.
Those who complete the beginners’ lessons then play first in the Wednesday evening sessions, where they are introduced gradually to competitive play in a relaxed atmosphere. These Wednesday night players have a Coaching night on the fifth Wednesday of a month whenever this occurs. This coaching is done by some of the Club’s experienced players and builds on the foundation established in the beginners’ lessons.
In 2010 the club is also staging once a month coaching at an ‘improvers’ level for club members, conducted on Thursday evenings. Tutor for these coaching sessions to be advised.
An opportunity for less experienced players to play with advanced players is provided by the Wellesley Pairs event. This event is scheduled for occasional Tuesday evenings: 06 April, 8 June and 26 October 2010. In the Wellesley pairs every partnership must comprise a Tuesday player and either a Monday or a Wednesday player.
